Description

4-Ethoxyphenol is a reactive chemical that is used as an analytical model system in organic chemistry. It has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential, which may be due to its ability to bind to the lipid bilayer and alter the structure of the mitochondrial membrane. This chemical is not toxic at low concentrations, but can cause damage to cells at high concentrations. 4-Ethoxyphenol also displays high values on a redox potential scale, which may be due to its ability to undergo oxidation-reduction reactions with other molecules.
