Description

Epicoprostanol is a sterol that is found in the human intestines. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes involved in the metabolism of cholesterol and alcohol. Epicoprostanol is also a component of human feces, which are used to test for its presence. The presence of epicoprostanol can be determined by measuring its absorbance at 260 nm. The concentration of epicoprostanol can be calculated by multiplying the absorbance by the dilution factor (1/10). Epicoprostanol has been shown to have antioxidant properties, helping to protect cells from free radicals. This sterol has also been shown to have some anti-inflammatory properties, which may help with autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in humans.
