Description

4-Ethoxybenzoyl chloride is a chiral compound that has been synthesized in a variety of isomeric forms. It has been found to be an effective inhibitor of fatty acid oxidation, and the uptake of 4-ethoxybenzoyl chloride by cells has been shown to depend on the cell type. The uptake of this substance has also been observed in animal studies using positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). 4-Ethoxybenzoyl chloride is a chlorinated derivative of benzoic acid, which exhibits mesomorphic properties at low temperatures. This compound may also be used as a precursor for the synthesis of other compounds.
