Description :Ethyl 3,5-dichloro-4-hydroxybenzoate is a reactant in organic synthesis. It is a byproduct of the chlorination of ethyl acetate and reacts with potassium chloride to yield 3,5-dichloro-4-hydroxybenzoic acid. This reaction is catalyzed by alkali metal hydroxides or alkali metal carbonates. The esters of this acid are used as raw materials for the production of pesticides, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals.
