• Description: 2-Ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate is a synthetic ester. It is used as a viscosity modifier, an emollient, and a solvent. 2-Ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate has been shown to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases. This inhibition may be due to its ability to act as a cationic surfactant and absorb particles in the air. It also has been shown to have good transport properties and can be used as an absorber for n-hexane or other organic solvents.
