Description

Evocarpine is a plant alkaloid that has been found to inhibit voltage-dependent calcium channels. It also inhibits the activity of fructus, which is the enzyme responsible for converting carbohydrates into fat cells. Evocarpine has been shown to have inhibitory properties against infectious diseases such as bowel disease and infectious diarrhea. Evocarpine is a Chinese herb that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent for treating rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. The effect of evocarpine on rat liver microsomes was studied in vitro and pharmacokinetics were measured after oral administration in vivo.
