2-Amino-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-phenylpyridine-3-carbonitrile (APC) is a hydroxyl compound that inhibits the activity of enzymes. APC has been studied for its use in chronic migraine and hemiplegic and basilar migraine. It also has ophthalmoplegic, episodic, and hydrocarbon chain effects. Its mechanism of action is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit nitric oxide synthase in vascular endothelial cells. The drug has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against some bacteria and fungi with nitro groups. It also binds to the amino group of proteins, which may account for its antitumor activities in animals.br>br>APC is a white crystalline solid that does not dissolve well in water, but dissolves well in alcohol.
