8-[4-(4-Fluoro-2-iodophenyl)-4-oxobutyl]-1-phenyltriazaspiro[4.5]decane (8F-IODO) is a high affinity ligand for the dopamine D2 receptor. It has been shown to bind to the dopamine D2 receptor with an affinity of 1.6 nM and a binding site in the brain that is similar to that of the therapeutic drug, bromocriptine. 8F-IODO was used as a radioligand in clinical studies and was found to have a binding affinity for the dopamine D2 receptor that was 15 times greater than that of bromocriptine. This compound has also been shown to bind to receptors in rat ganglia with an affinity similar to that of bromocriptine. 8F-IODO binds with high affinity and specificity at both d2 dopamine receptors and at other sites on cells
