Flusilazole is a fungicide that inhibits the enzyme activities of sterol C-14 α-demethylase, sterol Δ4-desaturase, and cholesterol oxidase. It binds to the terminal residues of the enzymes, blocking their active sites and inhibiting their enzymatic activity. Flusilazole has been shown to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria. The LC-MS/MS method used for analysis has a matrix effect on flusilazole concentration measurements. This chemical pesticide is toxic to mammals and can be harmful if ingested or inhaled because it may cause skin irritation, eye irritation, and respiratory tract irritation.
The toxicity of flusilazole was studied in a model system using sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) as an indicator for acute toxicity studies and glycol ethers as an indicator for chronic toxicity studies on mice.
