3,5-Dicarboxy-4-(1,3-benzodioxol-4-yl)-2,6-dimethylpyridine is a drug that inhibits the activity of the 5-HT2A receptor which is involved in regulating numerous physiological functions including cardiac function. In vitro studies have shown that 3,5-Dicarboxy-4-(1,3-benzodioxol-4-yl)-2,6-dimethylpyridine has antihypertensive and haemodynamic effects. These effects are due to its ability to inhibit the sodium dependent glucose transport and to block 5HT2A receptors. Animal models have demonstrated that 3,5-Dicarboxy-4-(1,3-benzodioxol-4-)methyl)-2,6 -dimethylpyridine can be used to treat ventricular dysfunction.
