This substance also has affinity for the nervous system, where it inhibits monoamine oxidase and blocks postsynaptic ion channels. 1-fluoro-4-methoxy-2-methylbenzene has been shown to have positron emission tomography (PET) properties that are useful for imaging the brain or other organs in humans and animals.
