Description :
7-Fluoro-1-benzothiophene is an inhibitor of class I and II histone deacetylases (HDACs) that is used in the treatment of cancer. It binds to the active site of HDACs, inhibiting their activity and preventing the deacetylation of lysine residues on histones. 7-Fluoro-1-benzothiophene has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice, with minimal toxicity in healthy cells. The drug also exhibits a low affinity for other classes of HDACs, including class III and IV. In addition, 7-fluoro-1 benzothiophene has been shown to be selective for HDACs over other protein targets such as cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2).
