4-Fluoronaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid is an amide that is biosynthesized by the decarboxylation of 4-fluoronaphthalene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. It has been shown to have in vitro cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines and a potent inhibitory effect on DNA replication. 4-Fluoronaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid has also been shown to be biotransformed into fluorescent compounds such as oxadiazoles, which can be detected using preparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The optical properties of 4-fluoronaphthalene-1 carboxylic acid are influenced by the presence of fluorine. Biological studies have shown this compound to bind with the CB2 receptor and show antiinflammatory properties.
