Description :
Formazin-3 NTU is a reactive compound that is used as a reagent in analytical chemistry. Formazin-3 NTU reacts with ethyl diazoacetate to form a trifluoroacetylated derivative, which can be detected by its characteristic nmr spectrum. The reactivity of this compound increases with pH which makes it an excellent indicator for the detection of an acidic solution. Formazin-3 NTU also has antiviral properties and can inhibit the growth of influenza virus in vitro. It does this by reacting with the nucleophilic amino acid residues on the viral surface, resulting in conformational changes that disrupt virus replication and release.
