- 2-Formyl-4-methoxyphenylboronic acid
2-Formyl-4-methoxyphenylboronic acid is a boronic acid that can be used as an electron acceptor. It is useful in the cross-coupling of aromatic compounds with electrophiles such as styrene, allyl group, and estradiol. The x-ray crystal structures of 2-formylphenylboronic acid were solved by using the technique of molecular replacement with a crystalline form of estradiol. The two molecules form a complex via hydrogen bonding interactions and stacking interactions with their phenyl groups. This complex was stabilized by the pyridine ring of 2-formylphenylboronic acid. The verticillium fungicide may also be an inhibitor of aromatase activity, which would make it an effective antiestrogen for breast cancer treatment.
