Methyl ester of 4-((4-(4-hydroxydiphenylmethyl)-1-piperidinyl)-1-oxobutyl)-a,a-dimethylphenylacetic acid is a metabolite of lisinopril. It has been used to calibrate the flow rate of chromatographic methods by comparison with anhydrous standards. The methyl ester can be quantitatively converted to the sodium salt by photolysis in a diode laser. This method has been validated and found to be accurate for industrial process monitoring.
