Description

Fluorescein sodium salt is a fluorescent dye that is used in medical imaging. It can be used as a tracer to measure the transit time of blood through the kidneys or to identify coronary artery blockages. Fluorescein sodium salt is also used as an ingredient in some asthma inhalers, where it helps to relax the airways. This compound has been shown to reduce ocular discomfort in diabetic patients. It has been shown to be useful for the detection of fluorescence by use of a detector with a fluorescence detector and for fluorescence angiography. It is also used for vitro assays and for hydroxylation studies on fatty acids and other organic compounds. Fluorescein sodium salt can be found in many different plants, including those from the families Fabaceae, Malvaceae, and Euphorbiaceae.
