Flumioxazin is a herbicide that belongs to the class of diphenyl ethers. It inhibits photosynthesis and the activity of enzymes in the electron transport chain, leading to the inhibition of energy metabolism. Flumioxazin has been shown to have a toxic effect on heart tissue, as well as other organs, such as kidney bean, water vapor, and leaves. The biological properties of flumioxazin are not yet fully understood. Flumioxazin binds to cyclohexane ring in an lc-ms/ms method and is metabolized by solanum tuberosum. It also inhibits enzyme activities in plants, including hydrolases (lipases, proteases), oxidoreductases (glycolate oxidase), and transferases (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase).
