Description

Fluorescein 5-maleimide is a fluorescent probe that can be used to measure the binding of an inhibitor to a protein target. It has been used in a model system to study insect resistance and as an analytical method for determining the concentration of fluorescein 5-maleimide in biological samples. Fluorescein 5-maleimide has also been used to study the transfer reactions between proton donors and acceptors, such as peptide hormones and proteins. The probe has been shown to have high affinity for multidrug efflux pumps, which are found in organisms like bacteria and human serum. Fluorescein 5-maleimide binds to disulfide bonds found in fetal bovine serum, which allows it to be used as a fluorescence probe.
