4'-Fluoro-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid (4FBPC) is a catalytic inhibitor of glycogen phosphorylase. It inhibits the enzyme by binding to the anionic site and blocking the substrate from entering. 4FBPC has been shown to inhibit glycogen phosphorylase in human liver cells, and it also inhibits cross-coupling reactions between boronic acids and halides. This compound was obtained through a cross-coupling reaction with phenylboronic acid and 4-fluorophenol. The resulting product was purified by crystallization with solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, or ether. Crystallographic data for this molecule were determined using x-ray crystallography at room temperature with a wavelength of 1.5406 Ångström. The structure of 4FBPC is shown below:
