Description :
3-Fluoropyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a cyclodepsipeptide that is used to treat tuberculosis. It is an antiproliferative drug that interacts with the mycobacterial cell membrane, causing leakage of intracellular fluid. 3-Fluoropyridine-2-carboxylic acid inhibits the growth of mycobacteria by binding to their ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug also has antimycobacterial activity against mycobacteria that are resistant to other drugs such as isoniazid. The antimicrobial effect of 3-fluoropyridine-2 carboxylic acid may be due to its interaction with the x-ray structures in the ribosome, which are thought to be involved in protein synthesis and kinase activity.
