Fomesafen is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by blocking the synthesis of complex carbohydrates. Fomesafen has been shown to potentiate the effects of potassium dichromate and trigeminal nerve, which are compounds with high redox potentials. It has also been shown to have high chemical stability and good analytical methods for determining terminal residues. The reactivity of Fomesafen is reduced by enzymes that can break down this compound, such as the activity of cytochrome P450, peroxidases and monooxygenases. Fomesafen also has a low therapeutic index and should not be used in patients with congestive heart disease or diabetes mellitus due to its ability to inhibit blood pressure monitoring.
