- 2-Hydrazino-6-(Trifluoromethyl)Pyridine
- 6-Trifluoromethyl-2-fluoropyridine
- Pyridine, 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)-
2-Fluoro-6-trifluoromethylpyridine is a fluorinated pyridine compound that has been shown to be an effective herbicide. It is a chlorinating agent and utilizes hydrogen chloride as the electrophile. The in vivo profiles of 2-fluoro-6-trifluoromethylpyridine have been studied in the liver and lung tissues of rats, where it was found to be readily absorbed through inhalation, ingestion, and dermal contact. The in vivo studies also showed that 2-fluoro-6-trifluoromethylpyridine binds to nucleophilic sites on proteins and causes changes to the cell membrane, which leads to cell death. 2-Fluoro-6-trifluoromethylpyridine has high lipophilicity and can evaporate from soil surfaces quickly.
