5-Fluoro-2-methoxyphenylboronic acid is a drug candidate for the treatment of cancer. It has been shown that 5-fluoro-2-methoxyphenylboronic acid inhibits the growth of tumor cells in culture. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of DNA synthesis and transcription, as well as protein synthesis. This product is an intermediate in the synthesis of purines, guanosine, and other drugs. It is an arylating agent that readily reacts with nucleophiles such as amines, thiols, alcohols, and carboxylic acids to form carbon-carbon bonds.
