Description

Formamidine Disulfide Dihydrochloride is a reactive sulfonic acid that can be used in the treatment of infectious diseases. It has been shown to be able to crosslink with metal ions and form a strong complex, which is why it is sometimes called the "cobalt bomb." The most common use for this compound is as an antiviral agent, but it has also been shown to have a number of other uses, including as a cell vaccine when mixed with ammonium nitrate. Formamidine Disulfide Dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the replication of RNA viruses by preventing the formation of ribonucleotide reductase by hydrolyzing the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. The high redox potential and kinetic data of this compound make it an ideal candidate for use in hydrogen peroxide production.
