Description

Fmoc-(DL)-2-aminotetraline-2-carboxylic acid is a cationic antibiotic that has been shown to have bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It also has a hemolytic effect on red blood cells. It belongs to the class of amphipathic antibiotics, which have both hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions. Fmoc-(DL)-2-aminotetraline-2-carboxylic acid is metabolized by the liver and excreted in the urine, making it suitable for oral administration. The stability of this drug is increased by its facially amphipathic nature, which prevents it from binding to water molecules and becoming insoluble in the body fluid.
