Fmoc-4-amino-1-methylpyrrole-2-carboxylic acid is a bimodal tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor. It has been shown to have a broad range of specificities for the various phosphatases, and is active against many different tyrosine phosphatases. Fmoc-4-amino-1-methylpyrrole-2-carboxylic acid has also been found to be more hydrophobic than other inhibitors, making it more difficult for enzymes to bind. Molecular modeling has shown that this compound binds in a sequence specific manner, which may be an important factor in its effectiveness. In addition, Fmoc-4-amino-1-methylpyrrole-2 carboxylic acid can be synthesized on a solid phase using the technique of solid phase synthesis (SPPS).
