Fluoromethylcholine chloride is a diagnostic agent that can be used for the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Fluoromethylcholine chloride is injected into the patient's body and then emits radiation from inside the tumor. The emitted radiation is detected by a camera, which creates an image of the tumor on a computer monitor. This imaging technique can also be used to detect liver lesions and other types of cancers such as brain tumors, breast cancer, and leukemia. Fluoromethylcholine chloride has been shown to have high uptake in prostate tissue and low uptake in normal tissues such as liver, kidney, or muscle.
