- Benzothiazole, 5-fluoro- (7CI,8CI,9CI)
5-Fluorobenzo[d]thiazole is a heterocycloalkyl compound that is structurally related to benzothiophene. It has been shown to have antitumour properties, which are likely due to its ability to inhibit the signal transduction of cancer cells and induce DNA damage. 5-Fluorobenzo[d]thiazole has also been shown to be active in radiation-induced tumours in mice. The compound inhibits the production of cyclic AMP, which may play an important role in its anti-tumour effects. 5-Fluorobenzo[d]thiazole binds to nucleophilic sites on chloride ion channels and inhibits chloride flow into the cell, leading to cell death. In addition, this compound also has anti-inflammatory activities that are mediated by inhibition of xanthate emulsification.
