It is used as an analytical tool to study tumor metastases and to analyze the effects of different substances on the cell's metabolism. The enzyme activities of phosphatase and anabolic enzymes are potentiated by 5-FdG-Glc, which has been shown to be effective in inhibiting cancer cells and microorganisms. 5-FdG-Glc can also be used for the detection of p-nitrophenyl phosphate, which is a product of lipid peroxidation in cells.
