Description

2-(2-Fluorophenyl)Oxazolo[5,4-b]Pyridine (FPP) is a drug that is used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. It is also used to prevent allergic reactions and as a spermicide. FPP binds to the alpha-adrenergic receptors in the brain and induces an increase in cerebral blood flow. It has been shown to be effective for treating patients with heart failure, but is not recommended for use in those with coronary artery disease or arrhythmias. FPP can also be used to diagnose allergy by monitoring the allergen-induced changes in the release of histamine from mast cells. This drug has been shown to have antiallergic effects on skin tests and sensitization responses, but it does not affect allergenic response thresholds or antigen-specific antibody production.
