(11b)-9-Fluoro-11,17,21-trihydroxy-16-methylene-Pregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione is a corticosteroid that binds to glucocorticoid receptors in the cells of various tissues. It is used for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune diseases. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria by disrupting the cell membrane and inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis in certain cells.
