Neticonazole hydrochloride is a potent antifungal agent. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol by inhibiting cytochrome P450, which is required for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. Neticonazole hydrochloride has been shown to have potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This drug binds to bacterial cell membranes and disrupts their function, leading to cell death. Neticonazole hydrochloride also inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA in fungi, which leads to cell death. The drug has been used in the treatment of fungal infections such as tinea rubrum and tinea pedis (athlete's foot).
