Description

Decursinol angelate (DECA) is a natural product that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and apoptosis-inducing properties. The concentration-time curve of DECA in HL-60 cells has been modeled using a one-compartment model with first order absorption and elimination. The pro-apoptotic protein Bax was activated by DECA and the apoptosis pathway was activated by both DECA and angelate. The decursinol content of DECA is approximately 1% to 2%. Decursinol angelate (DECA) also possesses antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In addition, it has been shown to prevent oxidative injury in vitro.
