Description

Glycine is a nonessential amino acid that is found in the human body and many foods such as soy. It belongs to the class of compounds known as amino acids. Glycine is used in the synthesis of glucose, which is an important source of energy for cells. Glycine has been shown to have insecticidal properties, and has been shown to inhibit cellular transformation in some experimental models. Glicine has also been used as an analytical method for measuring glutamate levels in wastewater treatment plants. In addition, glycine can be used to treat infectious diseases such as malaria and cholera, although it requires more research before it can be considered a viable therapeutic agent.
