Glycinexylidide is an organic acid that is used as a diagnostic agent and therapeutic agent in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. It has been shown to have an effect on both the heart and liver. Glycinexylidide inhibits the accumulation of lactic acid in human serum by inhibiting the enzyme enolase, which converts glucose to pyruvic acid. This compound also has been shown to be effective against geriatric patients with sciatic pain, who were given glycinexylidide intravenously for 10 days. In addition, this drug has shown efficacy in treating patients with liver disease caused by hepatic cirrhosis. Glycinexylidide does not cause any significant side effects and is considered safe for use in humans.
