Guanine sulfate is a salt that is found in human blood, urine, and other biological fluids. It is composed of the conjugate acid of guanine with sulfate ions. This compound has been used to study the effect of radiation on rat cardiomyocytes. Guanine sulfate has also been used as a substrate for studying the activity of enzymes bound to biological samples such as human serum and histidine. The optimum pH for guanine sulfate is 7.0-8.5, which can be achieved by adding sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide to water. Guanine sulfate has been shown to denature DNA in Streptococcus faecalis at high concentrations (pH 8).
