Description

H-Glu(OBzl)-OtBu Hydrochloride is a reagent used in peptide synthesis. It is the hydrochloride salt of glutamic acid and benzyl alcohol esterified with hydroxyl groups. The transesterification reaction between H-Glu(OBzl)-OtBu Hydrochloride and chloroform yields glutamic acid chloride, which can be used in the synthesis of peptides. This product has shown to be effective in acidic conditions, as well as being used as a catalyst for many reactions, such as for the hydrolysis of benzyl chloride to benzaldehyde and hydrogen chloride.
