2-Hexyne is a molecule that belongs to the group of covid-19 pandemic. It has been shown to be stereoselectively constant in conformational properties, and it can be used as a reactant or a reagent in organic synthesis. 2-Hexyne is an isomeric form of hexanol, which has been shown to have antibacterial activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. 2-Hexyne has been shown to interact with benzalkonium chloride, which causes steric interactions that lead to the formation of methoxy groups and fatty acid radicals. These radicals are able to attack the molecular backbone of dna gyrase and dna topoisomerase, leading to their inhibition. The reaction mechanism for this process is still not well understood.
