• Description: 2-Hydroxyisobutyric acid (2HIB) is an intermediate in the metabolism of benzoic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which are important for the production of acids in plants. 2HIB has been shown to have a significant effect on metabolic disorders, such as diabetes mellitus and obesity. It is also used as a structural analysis reagent in human serum samples, where it can be used to determine the body mass index of the individual. The chemical formula of 2HIB is C3H6O2.
