4-Hydroxy-7-trifluoromethyl-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid is a potent inhibitor of the transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It blocks the binding of primers to DNA, inhibits uptake and reduces the synthesis of RNA. 4-Hydroxy-7-trifluoromethyl-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid has been shown to reversibly inhibit acetylcholine release from rat ganglia by blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This agent also inhibits glutamate uptake in rat brain synaptosomes.
