Description

18-Hydroxycorticosterone is a hormone that is produced by the adrenal gland. It has been used as a marker for diagnosis of dopamine, physiological function, polymerase chain, metabolic disorders, and aldosterone levels. 18-Hydroxycorticosterone has also been used as an immunogen to produce monoclonal antibodies against this hormone. Soybean trypsin can be used to hydrolyze 18-hydroxycorticosterone into its two constituent parts, 18-hydroxycortisol and cortisone. Serum prolactin levels can be measured to confirm the diagnosis of adrenocortical carcinoma.
