3-Hydrazino-5H-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-b]indole is a heterocyclic compound that is synthesised by cyclisation of 3-hydrazino-5H-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-b]indole. It is a tetracyclic compound when it has one hydrazone and two carbonyl groups. The compound is also known as pyrazolyl hydrazone. 3-Hydrazino-5H-[1,2,4]triazino[5,6-b]indole can be obtained by reacting 3-hydrazinopyridine with β-unsaturated ketones (for example ethylidene acetate), formic acid and triethyl orthoformate. The hydrazine group in 3-hydrazinopyridine reacts with the α position of the unsaturated ketone
