Description

L-histidine hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. It has an amino acid composition of C6H8N4O2, with a molecular weight of 144.13. L-histidine hydrochloride has an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy profile that indicates it is not chemically stable, but still retains its activity when exposed to sodium citrate and bowel disease models. This compound also inhibits the growth of leukemia cells by inhibiting the production of human serum leukemia inhibitory factor and other cytokines. Histidine is also used as a nutrient solution to culture human cells for research purposes.
