• Description: 2-Hydroxythioxanthone is a linear molecule with a hydroxyl group at the end of the chain. This compound is photoreduced by light to form 2-hydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone (2HBQ), which can undergo polymerization. The rate of this reaction is proportional to the intensity of the light, and it can be modeled mathematically using a linear model. 2HBQ has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in amniotic fluid cells, and also promotes heart health by reducing angiotensin II levels in mice.
