Hexan-2-ol is a chemical substance with a viscosity of 0.8 cP at 25 °C and a boiling point of 64.8 °C. It is an alcohol with a linear carbon chain with six carbons and two hydroxyl groups. Hexan-2-ol has been shown to have transport properties that are dependent on the deuterium isotope effect, which is the difference in the density of hydrogen atoms in heavy water (D2O). Hexan-2-ol also contains a methyl ketone group, making it a polymeric matrix. The dehydration reaction mechanism for hexan-2-ol is known to be linear regression analysis.
