Z,Z-7,11-Hexadecadienal is a synthetic compound that is used as an attractant for insects. It has been shown to disrupt the antennae of lepidoptera and cause them to fly away from a treated area. Z,Z-7,11-Hexadecadienal can be deployed in a perimeter to be used with monitoring devices to detect the presence of insects. The optimal dosage of this compound is unknown; however, it has been shown that disrupting one antenna will not prevent an insect from flying.
