Description

5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride is a chemical that belongs to the group of hydroxylated compounds. It has been shown to have a potent effect on the dopamine receptor, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. 5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride may also inhibit uptake and release of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine, which may be responsible for its effects on the cholinergic system. The molecule is soluble in water and thus it is absorbed quickly through the skin. 5-Hydroxydopamine hydrochloride is used in research to study the physiology of dopamine receptors.
