• Description: 3-Hydroxy-5-phenylpyrrole is a phenolic compound that is found in the essential oils of many plants. 3-Hydroxy-5-phenylpyrrole has been shown to have health effects on mice and rats, such as reducing their appetite and increasing their oxygen consumption. In addition, it has been shown to be an analytical method for determining the amount of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in human brain tissue. The supercritical extraction technique has been used to extract 3-hydroxy-5-phenylpyrrole from plant materials. The 3HPP may also be obtained by reacting fatty acids with isovaleric acid in the presence of a catalyst, or by extracting it from bitter herbs such as gentian or wormwood.
