6b-Hydroxy-7a-(thiomethyl) spironolactone is a drug that is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the bile. It has been found to be safe and effective for the treatment of ascites due to cirrhosis. The pharmacokinetics of 6b-hydroxy-7a-(thiomethyl) spironolactone are linear, with a plasma elimination rate of 0.3 mg/kg/h.
